Thredbo’s exciting outdoor activities don’t just stop with the snow. In the warmer months there are plenty of options to suit whatever your pace. You can keep the adrenalin pumping with a wild mountain bike blast, explore the magic alpine environment as you climb to the roof of Australia, or try your luck at fly fishing. Thredbo is the ultimate year round resort.

Take a trip to Yarrangobilly Caves
Located 6km off the snowy mountains Highway, 156 km from Thredbo, there are guided and self-guided tours available as well as thermal springs for a hot dip.

Wild Brumby Distillery
Schnapps is the traditional drink in mountain areas and we are lucky enough to have a distillery on our doorstep in the Thredbo Valley on the Alpine way. The Cellar door is open 10-5 pm daily and along with free tasting you can enjoy coffee, lunch, home-made cakes and the outdoor sculpture walk. Brad Spalding, owner and distiller is also happy to explain the distillery process.

Snowy Hydro
Visit the Information and education centre located a couple of minutes from the centre of Cooma or the Murray 1 visitor centre. You will learn the story of the snowy mountains scheme from the early construction days to the role the scheme plays today.

Helicopter Scenic Tours
Helifun operate scenic flights all year round, from short trips over Jindabyne to scenic mountain sunset flights. Flights offer interesting and informative commentary as well as unrivalled beauty.

Snowy Region Visitors Centre, Café and Cinema
Gifts, souvenirs, maps, walking track guides and books are available. Staff can also provide you with your park entry passes and latest weather and road conditions. There is also a café in the building and the Jindabyne cinema. Phone 02 6457 1777 for movie session times.

Thredbo Ski Museum
Displays an interesting collection of photos and ski memorabilia from the 1890’s to the present. Entry is free.

Horse Riding
Pender Lea Chalets does everything from $5 pony rides (for children under 10) to scenic day trips for experience riders and 1-3 hour tours. Contact Pender Lea Chalets on 02 6456 2142.

Gaden Trout Hatchery
The hatchery is one of Australia’s main centres for the breeding and rearing of cold water sport fish, they run informative tours daily. Visitors can also view feeding of the big fish.

Snowy River Winery (Berridale)
This winery sells cold climate wines and also provides lunches, morning and afternoon tea and coffee.
